Sleep Well Body Butter

It’s no secret that here we believe strongly in two things to help us maintain balance (and sometimes our composure/sanity):

  1. Sleep is crucial and not optional.
  2. Trying a natural solution whenever possible.

These two beliefs came together during one of my DIY Days here at home when I combined a few different recipes I’ve found to make my version of a Sleep Well Body Butter! #AllNatural

And today I want to share that recipe with you!! This recipe not only supports rest and relaxation of the physical body but also the relaxation of our mind and thoughts as well. Who doesn’t need some help in those areas?!

I apply this luxurious homemade body butter to the bottom of my feet and my calf muscles about 20 minutes before bed each night. It’s a great addition to my evening routine. It also supports and enriches the skin as well.

Let’s Get To It!

What You’ll Need:

1/2 cup of Solid Coconut Oil, 1/2 cup of Unrefined Shea Butter, 1/4 cup Magnesium Oil, 15 drops of CPTG essential oils

First, you’ll start a double boiler (I just put a metal bowl over a pot of simmering water). Add the coconut oil and the shea butter.

Keep on medium heat until both have just melted through.

Take off the heat. Add the magnesium oil. (Important to note, although sold as an “oil”, this is more of a solution of magnesium and water.) Magnesium has shown amazing qualities to support muscles as well as mood and relaxation. You will need to stir this at first to make sure the oil and water don’t completely separate.

Let the solution cool for a bit before adding the essential oils, but not so long the mixture is solidified. Usually just a few minutes to cool down. Add a total of about 15 drops of essential oils.

Put it in the refrigerator for about a half hour until it returns to a solid form.

I wanted a soft texture, so I whipped this solid mixture with a hand mixer for a few minutes. Then, place in air tight, glass containers. I was able to fill 2.5 of these little 4 ounce mason jars with this recipe.

What oils should I use in this recipe??

You can use any CPTG essential oils that you have found support rest and relaxation. Here, I used 5 drops of each Cedarwood, Peace the Reassuring blend and Roman Chamomile.

Other CPTG oils you could use:

Lavender, Marjoram, Serenity the Restful Blend, Vetiver, Copaiba, Balance the Grounding Blend, Melissa, Neroli, Clary Sage, and Forgive the Renewing Blend.

These oils all support rest as well as have a grounding effect on the body and mind, but if you have experience with an oil NOT on this list that helps you, then of course try that out!

Rest Well Sweet Friends. Go be BRAVE and try something new… like a fun new DIY!
